About Peach and Our Editorial Policy

Peach is an iOS app and a free PCOS food guide. This page explains who is behind it, where our numbers come from, and how we write and correct our pages.

Check any food against your PCOS subtype

Peach scans any meal or barcode and scores it for PCOS — with recipes, meal plans, workouts and full cycle & symptom tracking.

Who we are

Peach is a small, independent project founded by Rober. It has two parts: an iOS app that scores meals and barcodes by PCOS subtype, with recipes, meal plans, workouts and cycle and symptom tracking, and this site, a free public guide to how everyday foods sit with PCOS.

Where our numbers come from

Glycemic index values come from the University of Sydney international GI tables (Atkinson et al., Diabetes Care 2008 and American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2021) and the University of Sydney GI database. Carbohydrate, fibre and protein per serving come from USDA FoodData Central.

Glycemic load is calculated for a real serving, not per 100 g. Every row of the PCOS glycemic index table shows its source, and where studies disagree we give a representative value and say so rather than presenting one study as settled.

How subtype verdicts work

Food verdicts and guides follow the 2023 International Evidence-based Guideline for the Assessment and Management of PCOS (Teede et al.) and peer-reviewed research. The four subtypes we use (insulin-resistant, post-pill, inflammatory and lean PCOS) are a practical way to organise food advice, not diagnoses.

What we will not do

We do not diagnose, give medication or supplement doses, set calorie targets or use restriction and shame language. Weight loss is never presented as a goal for lean PCOS. Pages about medicines explain what the evidence and official drug information (MedlinePlus, US National Library of Medicine) say, and leave decisions to you and your clinician.

Sources, dates and corrections

Guides list their sources at the end and show the date they were last updated. If you spot an error, email [email protected] with the page and the source; we check it and correct confirmed errors.

Reusing our data

The glycemic index table is licensed CC BY 4.0: you can reuse it, including commercially, with a credit and a link to the table.

Not medical advice

Everything on this site is educational and informational. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and it is not a substitute for a conversation with a qualified healthcare provider.
